Our U16 Girls went out of the U16 Girls Cup away to Conn Rangers this evening. We started really well and had the better of the first half. When 2 very obvious handball penalties in the Conn Rangers box were waved away and then a stunning finish from Zainab was somehow pulled up for offside we pretty much knew this wasn't going to be our day. The home side then took the lead very much against the run of play. Second half and the Girls were throwing everything at getting an equaliser with Alana and Mary Ann going very close. Conn Rangers were very dangerous and creating chances of their own. We were very open at the back searching for a leveller and the home side made the match safe with 2 late goals. Overall a hugely frustrating evening. A huge effort from the Girls this evening with little reward. Best of luck to Conn Rangers in the final. On a cold and miserable day in Concannon Park Claremorris United took on the might of Salthill Devon A in the first round of the SFAI Cup . After a titanic effort by the Claremorris boys went down on a score line of 1-0. The visitors goal came with 5 minutes remaining in the first half, a great strike from distance. It must be said that the boys in green tried their best to get an equaliser but it wasn’t to be. A tremendous effort by all the boys. Games like that one today will serve the boys well going forward. Claremorris U14 Boys played today the first round of the SFAI Cup against a Maree Oranmore team that beat us out of the SFAI Trophy last year. Despite the weather conditions and considering that some of our players had already played a game (or two!) the team played probably one of the best games this season. They managed to keep the ball and control the game. Took a while but after a well-earned penalty Darach scored the first. A few minutes later he also scored a second goal and together with Ignas and Mihai we ended the first half 4-0 up. The second half was more of the same and 2 more goals from Ignas and one halfway strike from Henry over the keeper who was out of the box finished the game with a comfortable 7-0 win.
